Place du Palais Royal is one of my favourite spots in Paris. The gorgeous blue and grey notes combined with gold, white and black and the wonderful, soft light we were blessed with on the day we took these pictures was really something special. I hadn't been there before this trip, and I'm very happy that my first visit was with Charlotte. We were having lunch at the iconic Le Nemours right new to Louvre, and decided to go have a look. It was sunny, and absolutely full of tourists who, much like us, had decided to visit the gorgeous grounds of Le Palais Royal. We evaluated the situation and decided to come back a different day, right after breakfast, so avoid the crowd and get some beautiful shots. Nothing worse than bright sunshine and a messy background when wanting to capture the soft and subtle beauty in this architecture.
We were not the only people with the brilliant idea to get to Palais Royal early to get a few gorgeous shots with no tourists in the background, and we met this wonderful little family, and they asked if we could help them take a family photo. We were happy to comply, and they took a few shots of us with my new analogue Konica (can't wait to get my film back and scan the negatives)!!! Charlotte spent the entire trip photographing me while I was photographing, and I'm so grateful that she captured some of the weird moments from our trip. She has a great eye for photography, and I love having all these silly and funny pictures!
on being photographed
Being photographed is something that I really have been working on getting comfortable with. From feeling so terrible misplaces in front of a camera that I would always unconsciously make a weird face, tense my lips of close my eyes, to being Preben's test model and being faced with my own demonds and learn to just relax and act.. well, like myself. This picture is a perfect example of me struggling to become comfortable. Being photographed is really hard, at least if you want to look natural and relaxed. 5 minutes in, and a few "shake it off" exercises for both of us, it all changed and we both looked prettier and happier.
There will be a hilarious post of all the 'in between' pictures later, where we reveal everything. The only way to learn is to try, and we gave it our best and just played around with it. I love the stupid in between pictures like the ones below due to my fight with humid Paris air that turned my hair into an uncontrollable birds nest.
A very big thank you to Charlotte for capturing all the weird little moments in between pictures, of me photographing with my camera in one hand and the umbrella in the other, and for taking these pictures of me. You should be looking forward to the post with all of her silly behind the scenes pictures that is coming up next week. I can't wait to show you!
