I used to be a juice addict. Seriously, I used to drink fruit juice instead of water. Fruit juice is one of those things that are usually seen as something healthy, when in reality it should be treated like a treat. Although the sugar it contains is natural sugar, it is still sugar and your body will process and react to it accordingly. That is why I stayed away from juice altogether for a full year, before introducing it into my diet again. This time around, I drink a lot of water and enjoy juice in the weekends, so when I bought a juicer this summer it opened up the possibility for making vegetable juices packed with green stuff for the weekdays, and a real upgrade of my weekend fruit juices. This recipe is one of my favourites.
To make a big glass of Sunday morning juice you’ll need
One huge apple (or two smaller apples)
Half a lemon
Peel the grapefruit, ginger and lemon, and cut everything into pieces that will fit your juicer. Put everything in, and watch beauty come to life. No matter what kind of juice I make, be it weekday or weekend juice, I always depend on two essential ingredients: Lemon and ginger.
Lemon and ginger will battle any bitter parts of a green juice and bring wonderful depth to a sweeter juice. Also, I feel like it keeps me from getting sick, even though it might just be a placebo effect. I’m terrible at dressing for this kind of shifting late summer/early autumn weather so I need all the help I can get! Any tips? Have a great Sunday and last hours of relaxing before the new week.
