Seasonal Ingredients: Autumn Edition

Autumn is my favourite time of year, especially when having had such an amazingly wonderful summer like we did this year. After having indulged on berries and delicate greens, I’m always more than ready for the vegetables, fruits and herbs that are in season when the weather gets colder.
Seasonal eating is wonderful, but it’s not always super easy to find inspiration for what to make, or even know what is actually in season (if you want some help with just that, you can click here). I like to make a seasonal food mood board that I hang in my kitchen, and I want it to be filled with ingredients, recipes and inspiration for what is in season. 

I’m a creature of habit, so I need a little kick towards making stuff that is out of my comfort zone. I usually have my favourite ingredients, and I stick with them. The mood board helps with thinking outside what my attention span allows, when I go grocery shopping. It’s been up for three days, and already I’ve been inspired to make two autumn dinners I wouldn’t have though of. One successful and the other not so much. Some of the easiest ingredients to cook with this season happens to be my absolute favourites as well, so it doesn’t get any better than that. Would you like wonderful, rick flavours in seasonal, cheap ingredients that are easy to make gorgeous dished with?

 Beetroot

Red onion

Cauliflower

Broccoli

Apples

Pears

Pumpkin

Cabbage

Kale

Mushrooms

Sage

Rosemary

Tarragon

 But, right now I’m still enjoying some late summer beauties.
