I have a weakness for berries. They are fabulous just by themselves, in yoghurt, as marmalade, made into drizzle, or in smoothies, cocktails and in salads, so it really annoys me that they are so expensive. Therefore, whenever I encounter them out in the wild nothing can come between them and me! When I visited Preben and Anders in Sweden a couple of weeks ago, we picked so – many – blackberries. They were everywhere (apparently they are considered a weed because they grow so rapidly, but they are amazing and should be seen as a treasure if you ask me!) and the beautiful ripe berries, warm from the sun kept us going back for more.
When I got back to Copenhagen I weighed my berries and they came up to a wonderful 2,5kg (!!!!) that is 500kr if you buy them at the store. Me = ecstatic! I basically have a freezer full of gorgeous blackberries, and quite a few wonderful recipes that will appear throughout the fall. First one will be up next week: some seriously delicious blackberry coulis that I have been pouring over my yoghurt the past week.
I always find it so wonderful to leave Copenhagen to go on little trips to the country side. I absolutely love, with emphasis on love, living in this city, but being able to pick fresh berries, swim in the ocean in golden evening sun and be barefoot outside is always a really nice break from my daily surroundings. Preben and I have known each other for a couple of years now, but didn´t really have any pictures of us together, so the last night of my stay Anders took some really nice shots of us.
Happy people, wonderful summer!
