The Royal Danish Ballet is a fantastic place to be if you are a ballet fanatic like me. Every time I go there, I learn something new, and these days I’m working on a project that is constantly teaching me amusing little things. I had a meeting with the woman in charge of all of the ballet shoes yesterday, and she gave me this pair of pointe shoes to study. I have been researching a lot (a. lot.) but holding the shoes in my hands, comparing hand made pointe shoes to machine made pointe shoes, and see all the little differences that each dancer asks for to get the perfect shoe for her feet, and the ballet she will be dancing in them feels quite amazing.
I’m developing the project on the wall in my apartment to visualize all the processes that are required, and adding the pointe shoes as a very physical visualization of the ballet makes it even more inspiring. I can’t wait till I can share this project with you, but for now it will have to remain a secret!
I love all the little details about the ballerina, and her shoemaker that is revealed on the sole of her shoes.
Have a wonderful sunny Tuesday! After a week of constant grey, this is truly wonderful. Let’s go for a run!
